The 'Maxim' of "Metal" Magazines
By acrid.one
Okay, so my title would probably scare off the Heavy Metal purists...but if you opted to actually pick up a copy, you'd realize it does the scene some justice. Revolver covers all aspects of rock music including it's sub-genres(Heavy/Black/Thrash/Death Metal as well as Punk,Pop Rock(i said unbiased, remember?) and everything in between. Advice colums; mostly high school-aged kids seeking guidance on what to do about being picked on for how they dress or sappy love advice; and yes, even a 'who's wearing what and what their getting inked' articles fill the pages between Band news and album reviews-Every copy comes with a free pull-out poster usually with the Cover artist(s) on it. Want to hear about the return of Bad Brains? Gorgoroth's chuch-burning high jinks? or a review of a recent Black Dahlia Murder concert? Well look no further and pick up a copy today.

Revolver Magazine
By Elizabeth Wonderham
I like Revolver, Revolver is one of my favorite Magazines. I've been reading Revolver for five years now, and I've seen a lot of changes in Revolver since then. The Magazine is about 100 pages, and is bi monthly, it comes out 6 times a year. I wish that Revolver could have 50 more pages, with more interviews, and music reviews. Overall I'm happy that Revolver still stands as a publication after ten years, because the Magazine is great. Many Magazines have come, and gone the last few years, I just hope Revolver will be around forever.

AWESOME MAGAZINE!!
By Benjamin Dye
If you're into metal music then this magazine is for you...they give TRUE reviews (not like Rolling Stone). All the articles in this magazine are interesting and from different points of view. They do musician meets musician articles where they interview 2 different musicians from 2 different bands that is very interesting. They do articles about album art. They go to the past and pull up history from the older bands of metal. I LOVE THIS MAGAZINE!

A breath of fresh air
By G. Braddock
Every time I get Southern Lady, it's like springtime any part of the year. The photographs are so beautiful! It includes articles on decorating, food, fashion and stories of southern women and just a general positive appreciation of life in general. No horoscopes, male bashing, scantily clad models or errant life advice - just uplifting articles and photographs. My absolute favorite part of the magazine are the articles about women who are entrepreneurs and fortunately, there are at least two articles like that in EVERY issue. I get so excited about that part of the magazine. If they ever drop those type articles, I will drop the magazine. But I don't think they will because I think those women make the magazine special and set it apart... especially because the articles do not mention any of the financial gain of the women, just their love of doing what they do.It is so wonderful and inspiring to read about others who got creative and decided to do something for others, their families and themselves. I think the magazine's premise is not about being from the south, but is about enjoying the beauty and joy of life that can be found in the south.************************************************************************************2009 Update: It's almost Thanksgiving and I just got the holiday issue. I don't know what has happened over the past two or three years, but the quality of this magazine has gone down since I first wrote the review. You will probably still enjoy it, but I don't feel it is worth the price anymore. It seems to have a lot more ads and a lot less articles and photos of substance. I attribute this to the publisher adding more magazine titles in which they expound on certain themes that used to abound in their magazines a few years ago such as: Tea Time and Sandra Lee Homemade among others. I used to collect this magazine and loan them out to friends as they contained a wealth of treasure, but the past year especially has been pretty ho-hum.

best magazine
By A Customer
This is the best magazine on the market!!!!!!!!!! It is soothing, relaxing, inspiring, useful, decorative, helpful, and an all round good happy magazine. Everyone that I know that looks at it is impressed with it and can hardly put it down. The recipes are good. Even the ads are good. It is one that you don't want to throw away but keep forever. It is inspiring in that it gives you ideas for parties, friendships, home, food, and everyday living. It is a ladies magazine to the fullest. I wait and wait for the next one to come and then in the meantime, I read the old magazines I have.

All Things Lovely and Feminine
By A Customer
Ephemeral visions of Royal Albert pink rose-patterned teacups, antique Spode teapots, vintage lace, and antiquarian books; snippets from my past four trips to England and France appear fresh in my mind with each issue I receive in the mail. Catering to the feminine lady who dances to a softer beat; who enjoys being a woman and all that that entails, this magazine is a respite of pure bliss. I often save my still-unopened newest issue for over a week until I can find that perfect little island of quiet time and alone-ness.....perhaps with a silver tea tray, a gathering of storm clouds outside the French door, a pretty needlepoint pillow, delectable candles on my pretty table. "Southern Lady" is a jewel, a rare find today.

Are comics for kids?
By Brian McQueary
The only other review that was posted gave this subscription 1 star. I'm 33 and have been reading comics for the better part of 21 years. When most people think about comics they think of the old 60's Batman television show or the horrendously campy movies in the 90's. Comic's, as a medium, as so much more. The "dark age" came and comics looked for realism. Villians that no longer simply showed up to rob a bank and danced gleefully through the streets while the heroes slugged it out an then call each other "chum" or "pal". The villian's played for keeps and are deadly. Nowhere else are these villians showcased than in the Batman title. The bad guys are mostly insane and kill freely and without remorse. Are all comics this dark? No, try Superman for example. He is the light and hope for the world and his books display that. He is the "all-american boyscout". Batman's title is dark because that is the environment in which he lives. He is a hero that was born of violence when his parents were coldly killed by a street thug in a senseless moment.I have read this book and I see nothing wrong with it. Parent's should be aware that there are more adult themes being presented and should buy accordingly. Always know what you are giving your child, it's your responsibility. Research before you buy, don't wait until after the fact to preach morality.

Depends upon writing team
By R. M. Delckum
It's difficult to rate a comic book series since the title changes as the writing and art teams change. Batman has been around since the 1930's and has had probably hundreds of writers and artists. At this point the team is pretty good. They have updated old villians (and taken the step of killing off some of them) as well as introducing some good new characters. Yes, the title is very dark. All of the titles in the Bat family have been like this since Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns in the mid-1980's. The relentless darkness and grittiness does tend to wear thin at times, and it sometimes feels like the writers enjoy torturing Batman a bit too much. I wouldn't mind if they lightened it a bit. The title is violent, but also generally has good character development and tends to have lots of multi-issue arcs. The supporting cast is good, and the title takes place in a deep, rich world.A good comic for adults and teens. If you have a kid who is a Batman fan, I recommend you stick with Batman Strikes, which is aimed at a younger audience.

Great gift for a Batman fan!!
By J. Warner
It's quite simple. If you are, or know someone, who is a Batman fan, this is a great gift.If you are a Batman comic "snob", then this may not be for you.I purchased this for my husband, a huge Batman fan, two Christmas' ago & he said to keep the subscription until he dies. They arrive in order, which he loves. The artists are all very very talented. My husband, 35, loves the story lines.See, simple.
